This entire chapter is breathtakingly beautiful. Watching Ryo figure himself out, fall in love, and for the first time really connect with someone he shares his bed with. I love Shige in this, so casual and smart and funny and reluctant. Ryo's persistence is wondrous. The analysis of Shige's friends is brilliant. It showcases Ryo's ability to evaluate people and the lengths he's willing to go to for Shige, even before he realizes how deeply in love he is. Ryo doesn't seem as desperately broken in this chapter; he's functioning, aware of his limitations and hurts and past and doubts, but reaching out. Which makes how this whole thing started just incredibly bittersweet.
I don't know if I love you or want to cry at you for starting my day off like this. You're allowed to take forever if you're going to be this amazing.
