I wasn't gonna read this today, because it's really late and I'm sleepy, but I gave it a look... and then I just kept reading!! XD

I *loved* this chapter! It's just... I don't hate Koyama in this one!! Finally! He stopped going over and over his relationship with Shige and started paying attention to others around him! Yay! I think I liked him here because he's not going back to the good days where it was just him and Shige, nor wishing things were different, but he's very much in the present. He is still struggling, a little, with all the changes happening around him, but he's not going back at every turn like he did before. He's growing, moving forward! I'm kinda proud!

I like how the theme here is loneliness, deep, sad loneliness, felt by both Koyama and Pi. And still, as you make the relationship between them evolve with Koyama getting to *know* Pi, you give us something warm and sweet that doesn't feel lonely at all!

Yamapi is certainly the warmer character here. Even when you see he feels lonely in a way too, and he's tired and gets dizzy with the world spinning around so fast, his view on life is simple and is easy to see he treasures those moments in life that make him happy. But he doesn't do it like Koyama, who treasure moments and tries to relive them and never lets them go. Yamapi enjoys being happy when he can, and then moves on, giving his best to create a next great moment. Also, he's a lot more pro-active dealing with this big relationship they are all involve with. Making sure they go out and have fun, getting to know Shige AND his best friend and he explains Ryo to them. He's a pretty regular guy, here, not really perfect or special, but as a friend, he rules!

This chapter left me wanting more interaction between Yamapi and Shige, too. We haven't got much interaction between the best friend and the boyfriend on neither side. I can see Koyama avoiding being alone with Ryo because Ryo still is a threatening presence and, well, he's is not very friendly, is he? He probably wouldn't seek Koyama either (save for that time, to get Shige back). Yamapi, though, he's a lot more friendly and as he has tried to explain Ryo's behavior to Koyama, is easy to picture him doing the same for Shige, so Shige can understand and be patient. How they talked in the scene by the river (and before and after Pi's concert), they seem comfortable around each other, enough for Shige to admit to being scare of Ryo not being able to live without him (and I completely agree with him, it's scary as hell). I hope we see more of that interaction in the future ^^

I love the little speeches at the end. Yamapi and Koyama voiced what everyone else was thinking right there, that the year was amazing because all of them got together and that they managed to beat loneliness because of that. This end is so full of... hope. And it could be heartbreaking because we all know bad things will happen afterward, but following Yamapi's philosophy, I just enjoyed the moment, it made me very happy ^___^

I'm guessing we may be getting more RyoShige focus from now own, and it is kind of perfect how you finished this now at the beginning of the year, to start something new next. Good balance and a good omen for this new year! (now I'm off to sleep!! XP)
